Mario Miguel Casado was born in Camagüey, Cuba in 1999. He immigrated to the United States in 2006 when the Diversity Visa lottery allowed his family to relocate. In 2023, Mario received a BFA in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of the Arts.

My body of work is focused on unconventional approaches to design. Most prominent are those crafted with concepts of “improvisation by necessity” as a social critique of my own upbringing in the Cuban culture. Through my work, I seek to repurpose and redefine the use of discarded and mundane materials. In virtue of a healthy obsession with physical ephemera, my sentimentality for objects is the impulse that brings together my creations.
